Understand in 2 minutes: the startup studio

La miniature de la vidéo sur le startup studio

Discover the Startup Studio of Paris Brain Institute: an accompanying program dedicated to startups in neurology and psychiatry, with a unique financial and scientific support.

What is the Startup Studio of the Brain Institute?

Startup Studio is an innovative program developed by Paris Brain Institute to enhance the impact of its incubator, iPEPS. Its objective is to accompany researchers and entrepreneurs in the early stages of the creation of startups resulting from academic research in neurology and psychiatry. This is part of Paris Brain Institute broader innovation mission to transform scientific advances into concrete solutions for patients and health systems.

An Evolution of the IPEPS Incubator

Since its creation, Paris Brain Institute has had an incubator, iPEPS, dedicated to supporting startups. Startup Studio represents a new step in this dynamic by focusing on the initial phase of startup development. Its ambition is thus to offer enhanced support from the very start of the project, with specific support for researchers who wish to exploit their discoveries.

Structured and funded support

The Startup Studio benefits from a specific financing called Neural, fed by donations of patrons and other financing from Paris Brain Institute. This financial support enables the organization of support in several key stages:

1. Selection of promising projects

Above all, a rigorous selection process is put in place to identify projects with the greatest potential for innovation and for which the Brain Institute can provide real added value.

2. Initial diagnosis

Once selected, the startup receives a detailed diagnosis to assess its specific needs. This analysis identifies the resources needed to make the project convincing to investors.

3. Deployment of a road map

After diagnosis, a road map is put in place. This includes carrying out the missing scientific studies and supporting the search for accessible public funding before the startup is set up.

4. Creation and fund-raising

The support continues until the official creation of the startup and its first fundraising. This phase is essential to ensure the sustainability of the project and to enable it to achieve its development objectives.

5. Post-establishment follow-up

Even after the startup is created, the support does not stop. The start-up can stay in the IPEPS incubator for another year or until a more significant fundraising.

A privileged access to the resources of Paris Brain Institute

One of the great assets of the Startup Studio is access to the many resources of the Brain Institute. Accompanied startups can benefit from:

  • On-site accommodation, facilitating interaction with the scientific and medical ecosystem;
  • Access to advanced technological platforms, essential for scientific studies and validation;
  • Collaborations with the Institute’s research laboratories;
  • Exchanges with physicians and clinicians specializing in neurology and psychiatry.

This network and this unique scientific environment represent a decisive advantage for the success of startups developing innovations in neuroscience.

Who can join the Startup Studio?

Startup Studio is open to all neurology and psychiatry startup project leaders, whether they come from Paris Brain Institute academic research or from another European ecosystem. Support is provided by a multidisciplinary team specialized in the creation and development of deeptech startups in health.

How to candidate?

Detailed information on the programme, the selection process and the eligibility criteria is available on the institutional site of the Brain Institute as well as on the site dedicated to IPEPS.
