Last update: 17/01/2025 Reading time: 1min

Created in 1995, the Centre d’Investigation Clinique (CIC) Neurosciences is a clinical research platform dedicated to diseases of the nervous system. It is located in the heart of Paris Brain Institute.

What is the CIC Neurosciences?

The Centre d’Investigation Clinique (CIC) Neurosciences is a day hospital and clinic unit dedicated to clinical research on diseases of the nervous system.

The CIC Neurosciences has dedicated premises and staff trained in clinical research for the study of neurological and psychiatric diseases in optimum conditions of quality, ethics and safety. The main pathologies studied are: Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), dementias, neurogenetics, neuropsychiatry, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), peripheral neuropathies, epilepsy.

Since its creation in 2010, a major effort has been made to structure clinical research and it can now be said that Paris Brain Institute is a driving force for clinical research at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, one of the most renowned centres of neurology and psychiatry in the world.

Neurosciences CIC

The CIC Neurosciences collaborates closely with the doctors of the Department of Medical-University (DMU) Neurosciences AP-HP Sorbonne University, the research teams of Paris Brain Institute, and the drug manufacturers for therapeutic trials. The aim of the studies carried out is to gain a better understanding of the pathologies affecting the nervous system and to offer patients access to innovative therapeutics.

The CIC Neurosciences Today

The CIC Neurosciences Today

Today, the CIC Neurosciences within Paris Brain Institute coordinates about 80 clinical trials initiated by public investigators (about 60%) and by industrialists (about 40%). Half of these trials are therapeutic, about 25% are pathophysiologic, and about 25% are clinically and biologically characterized cohorts.

Le Centre d’Investigation Clinique Neurosciences est situé au premier étage de l’Institut du Cerveau
The Neuroscience Clinical Investigation Center is located on the first floor of Paris Brain Institute.
