"Regulation of behavioral state by the mesopontine tegmentum in zebrafish"
Recent studies in several species have implicated nuclei in the rostral brainstem tegmentum in driving short-term adaptive oranticipatory changes in behavior. Work by us and others shows that the same region plays a central role in multiple short-term state changes in zebrafish, highlighting the importance of the mesopontine tegmentum as an evolutionary ancient hub for behavioral state control.
