"Evolution of chemosensory circuits in drosophilids"
Animals constantly probe their surroundings for chemosensory cues to detect food, predators or mating partners. How chemosensory systems evolve to adapt to changing environments, however, is still poorly understood. We use comparative behavioural, physiological, genetic and transcriptomic approaches in closely-related Drosophilid species to address this question and to gain mechanistic insights into principles of neural circuit evolution.
