Emmanuelle Volle is PI in the Frontlab team of Paris Brain and Neurologist Institute. She obtained a medical thesis and a graduate diploma in neurology in 2003, a diploma in neuropsychology (2000), an MSc in neurosciences (2001), and a doctorate in neurosciences from the University of Paris 6 in 2007. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the UCL Institute of Cognitive Neurosciences. She holds a team leadership position with the Society for the Neuroscience of Creativity, and is a member of the Gender Equity Committee of Paris Brain Institute.
This current research aims to understand the brain mechanisms of high-level cognitive functions such as creativity, problem solving and reasoning: How do creative ideas emerge? How do we solve new problems? How do we adapt to new situations?
To this end, I am combining various methods of cognitive neuroscience, combining experimental psychology with neuroimaging approaches, such as functional MRI, brain connectivity, network sciences, voxel-based morphometry, electrophysiology, brain stimulation and, most importantly, patient studies. I am also interested in developing clinical applications to better assess or predict high-level cognitive deficits in neuropsychiatric diseases.
