Masterclass Cognition

Understanding how the brain works in everyday tasks

Last update: 18/01/2025 Reading time: 1min

The fields studied at Paris Brain Institute include molecular, cellular, physiological, and neurodegenerative pathologies, but another aspect is also studied: cognitive functioning.

What is cognition?

What is cognition?

Cognition refers to the set of mental processes through which an individual acquires, processes, stores and uses information.

At the Brain Institute, cognitive research teams study how the brain codes language, attention, consciousness, motivation, decision-making, cognitive biases, behavioural control, creativity, reasoning, mood, emotion and the effects of social influences.

These are all features we use every day!

Understanding and Using Your Brain

A masterclass in understanding and using your own brain

The Education Unit wishes to disseminate to the general public the state of the art of knowledge in these fields in the form of interactive masterclasses, based on the expertise of researchers, designed to be accessible to all and to make it possible to better understand how the brain works in order to make the best use of it in everyday life.

The Masterclass Creativity & Neurosciences

The Masterclass Creativity & Neurosciences

The first masterclass developed is dedicated to the creativity seen by the neurosciences, and built thanks to the unique alliance of two experts: the neurosciences of creativity, under the coordination of Dr. Emmanuelle Volle, and the Society for the Neuroscience of Creativity, as well as the innovative pedagogy of the Open Brain School.

In this 2-day training, participants discover the different creative processes at work in the brain, experiment with scientists’ tools to understand and measure creativity, learn to lift the brakes and create the most favourable environment for creativity.
