EPICA: An immersive training program to boost partnership innovation in health

As part of the Future Investment Program (PIA) and France 2030, the State and the Île-de-France region launched the IFPAI call for projects (Engineering of professional training and innovative support offers) in 2021. The EPICA project is a winner and, as such, receives funding from the Caisse des Dépôts and the Île-de-France Region to structure training for partnership research in health.

An innovative immersive training programme

The transfer of technologies and skills from public laboratories to companies—and vice versa—constitutes a major innovation driver that requires a high level of scientific creativity. In the health field, the potential of this model is particularly rich. To identify and train future entrepreneurs in the creation of startups, the management of research projects, or the valorization of results, a close collaboration between the public and private sectors is necessary, as well as a form of cultural adaptation.

Paris Brain Institute, which leads the project, has partnered with the Institut Pasteur, the Imagine Institute, and the startup Cameo to design and offer, for the first time, an immersive and innovative training program. The objective? To support students, PhDs, post-doctoral researchers, and public sector researchers, as well as managers and employees from the private sector, in acquiring the methods, practices, and codes necessary for conducting partnership research and innovation projects.

Launch of the first session

After a period of educational engineering, we are announcing the launch of the first training session with a limited number of places:

A 4-month training course from 29/11/2024 to 13/02/2025.

The duration of the training program is 210 hours, including:

  • 38 hours of in-person group sessions
  • 12 hours of remote support and follow-up
  • 160 hours of work-based training in a startup

The EPICA program is a certified training program that can be funded by public or mutualized funds (OPCO, CPF, etc.)
