"Human and post-mortem iron brain mapping in neurodegenerative diseases"

Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) is a powerful Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technique sensitive to iron deposition in the brain, which, when excessive or dysregulated, can contribute to neurodegeneration. In this presentation, I will demonstrate how postmortem MRI can be leveraged to elucidate the relationship between QSM findings and actual iron and other metal concentrations in the brain, and how these results relate to neuropathological signatures of neuro- degeneration. I will also share some interesting in vivo applications of the technique.
