During my PhD at Aix-Marseille University, I studied the genetic factors involved in human resistance to malaria. I then turned to genetic diseases through various postdoctoral experiences to identify the genetic bases of the clinical variability frequently observed in so-called monogenic diseases. This allowed me to work on leukodystrophies and Marfan syndrome-related diseases.
Subsequently, I joined the Paris Brain Institute to work on frontotemporal dementias (FTD), amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), spastic paraplegias, and spinocerebellar ataxias, aiming to identify genetic modifiers to better understand and predict the progression of these diseases.
Appointed as permanent INSERM Research Scientist at the Institute, I continue my research on inherited forms of FTD/ALS to better understand the genetic factors influencing disease progression in patients, using epidemiological and molecular Genetic approaches.
