Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), is a medical treatment used in psychiatry that involves causing a brief, controlled seizure by sending a very weak electrical current into the brain.
This treatment is used mainly for certain severe drug-resistant depressions, but also for bipolar disorders or some forms of schizophrenia.
