Ability for some people to accurately recall almost every event in their lives.
Hyperthymesia, also known as highly superior autobiographical memory (HSAM), is an ability that is characterized by the ability to recall, in a very precise and detailed manner, personal events experienced during one’s life. This type of memory is extremely rare, since since its identification in 2006, fewer than 30 cases have been scientifically described worldwide.
For example, hyperthymesic people can recall the exact date of ordinary days, what they were doing, what they were wearing, or what happened in the news that day, sometimes decades earlier.
This type of hypermnesia only concerns autobiographical details, not necessarily academic or vocational learning.
