Paris Brain Institute expands its horizons with support from the Marie-Françoise Parayre Chaufour Foundation

Carte du monde

Thanks to the generous support of the Marie-Françoise Parayre Chaufour Foundation, Paris Brain Institute has launched an ambitious program to encourage international scientific innovation.

Thanks to support from the Marie-Françoise Parayre Chaufour Foundation, a Belgian non-profit that supports medical research, in the coming weeks Paris Brain Institute will launch its first Big Brain Theory international appeal, in partnership with Mission Lucidity in Belgium.

An ambitious program

The Big Brain Theory (BBT) program was created in 2016 by Paris Brain Institute to fund innovative,

interdisciplinary and high-risk research projects by the Institute’s teams.  Selected by a high-level international scientific committee, the projects chosen as part of the BBT program explore original pathways that do not otherwise receive public or semi-public funding.  The BBT program seeks to guarantee the necessary seed funding for these projects, so that they can provide first proofs of concept for later obtaining the essential institutional grants they need to continue and, ultimately, to revolutionize how nervous system disorders are treated.

Going global

On the back of three editions that have supported 33 research projects, Paris Brain Institute now wishes to extend this program to its international partners to finance multidisciplinary and original research studies with the best experts available.

This backing from the Marie-Françoise Parayre Chaufour Foundation will enable Paris Brain Institute to finance an initial collaborative project between France and Belgium.

This project has been made possible by the strong partnership between Paris Brain Institute and Mission Lucidity, a Belgian interdisciplinary initiative that brings together renowned institutions such as Imec, KU Leuven, UZ Leuven and VIB.

This first international BBT appeal reflects Paris Brain Institute’s desire to consolidate its ties with leading foreign research centers and develop international collaborative projects to drive research on the brain and brain diseases.
