Paris Brain Institute is co-organizing the 3rd edition of the “Modeling Human Neuropathologies” Summer School, together with the Interdisciplinary Center for Neurosciences (University of Heidelberg). The summer school is an intensive international program that studies human neuropathologies. Applications are now open for this training program, which will take place from July 5 to 11, 2026, in Pornichet.
The summer school, which is aimed at master’s, doctoral and post-doctoral students, will offer a unique opportunity for in-depth scientific study, exploring neuroscience’s latest experimental and technological approaches and fostering international collaborations.
An international training course at the forefront of modern neuroscience
The “Modeling Human Neuropathologies” Summer School offers an interdisciplinary platform for participants to explore different experimental and conceptual approaches to the modeling and study of nervous system disorders. The program will be aimed at young researchers in particular, helping them to integrate innovative technologies into their scientific research.
Research areas covered:
- molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration and links to neurodevelopment
- repair, regeneration and responses to neural damage
- neuro-immune and neuromodulatory mechanisms involved in brain development, social behavior and disorders
- experimental models of central nervous system cancers
An interactive and immersive program
For one week, course participants will benefit from:
- plenary lectures by prominent international researchers who will present complementary perspectives on their research topics
- poster sessions for presenting and discussing their work
- brainstorming sessions in small, speaker-supervised groups, to reflect on how they can adapt the approaches presented to their own research projects networking and mentoring opportunities with the course speakers available throughout the week
- social activities so that participants can enjoy the Pornichet coastal area.
This format encourages direct discussions between emerging researchers and experts, while also providing the opportunity to develop longstanding scientific collaborations.
An initiative that originated from a European partnership
This summer school is part of the ongoing partnership between the neuroscience MSc programs at the University of Heidelberg and Sorbonne University. It is coordinated by the leaders of the iMIND program (Neuroscience MSc, Sorbonne University) and the MSc in Molecular Biosciences, Neuroscience major (University of Heidelberg), and receives support from Paris Brain Institute.
