Speaker : Nada JABADO, Department of Pediatrics Canada Research Chair Tier 1 in Pediatric Oncology McGill University.

"Brain Tumors in Children and Young Adults: Where Development Meets Oncogenesis"

Dr. Nada Jabado is Professor of Paediatrics at McGill University, paediatric hemato-oncologist at the Montreal Children’s Hospital, and CIHR Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Paediatric Oncology. Trained in paediatrics and hemato-oncology, she holds a PhD in Immunology (Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris) and completed postdoctoral training in biochemistry at McGill.

Dr. Jabado is internationally recognized for discovering recurrent histone H3 mutations (oncohistones), first reported in Nature (2012), a Nature Cancer Milestone that redefined oncogenesis by linking chromatin dysregulation and development to pediatric brain tumours. Her work reshaped WHO classification of pediatric gliomas (2016, 2021) and continues to guide global diagnostics and therapy. Dr. Jabado’s contributions extend beyond discovery. She has integrated cutting-edge single-cell and 3D chromatin technologies to map permissive developmental windows and identify actionable targets, paving the way for novel therapies.

Her impact is reflected in over 250 publications in premier journals (Nature, Science, Cell), an h-index of 112, and more than 55,000 citations. She has delivered over 230 keynote lectures worldwide and serves on advisory boards for leading research organizations, including AACR, CIHR, and international cancer foundations. Her honours include being an Officer of the Order of Canada (2024), recipient of the L’Oréal-UNESCO Award for Women in Science (2024), and induction into the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Canada, as well as numerous international prizes recognizing her scientific brilliance and leadership.
