The Paris Brain Institute is launching a Call for Junior Group Leaders, inviting outstanding early-career scientists in artificial intelligence, data science, computational neuroscience, and related fields to establish their own independent research groups within one of Europe’s most dynamic neuroscience research centers. This unique opportunity aims to accelerate transformative research into brain and nervous system disorders by recruiting innovative researchers ready to lead ambitious scientific programmes.

The Paris Brain Institute’s Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science was created to accelerate the translation of brain research into tangible benefits for patients. Building on the Institute’s unique multidisciplinary environment - bringing together medicine, neurobiology, mathematics, and computer science - the Center leverages exceptionally rich research and clinical data, supported by state-of-the-art core facilities.

Its mission is to develop cutting-edge AI and data science research, to structure and integrate complex, multi-modal, and multi-scale data, and to foster the emergence of reliable, trustworthy, and patient-centered medical AI. By enabling earlier and more accurate diagnosis, accelerating therapeutic discovery, and advancing precision medicine, the Center aims to have a global impact on brain health.

Opened in July 2025, the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science brings together key teams in AI, biological, clinical, and imaging data analysis, and software development, while actively recruiting new talent and supporting emerging researchers. The Center is hosted in a dedicated building, a five-minute walk from the Paris Brain Institute’s main building. Through strong national and international partnerships, large-scale data infrastructures, and flagship initiatives such as large and well-annotated cohorts, the Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science positions the Paris Brain Institute at the forefront of AI-driven neuroscience and brain health research.

The Call for Junior Group Leaders: a launchpad for career growth

This Call for Junior Group Leaders invites exceptionally talented early-career scientists in AI, data science, computational science, and related fields to apply for positions that allow them to create and lead their own independent research group at the Paris Brain Institute. Successful candidates will be provided with a competitive start-up package, funding support, and access to world-class facilities to kick-start their programmes and contribute to the Institute’s strategic scientific agenda.
Establishing an independent research group at the Paris Brain Institute offers an unparalleled launchpad for ambitious young scientists to flourish. Group leaders will benefit from the richness of an environment of excellence, working alongside experts in molecular, cellular, cognitive, clinical, and computational neuroscience. This environment promotes cross-teams and international collaboration, amplifying the impact of new research programmes.
