Team presentation

The objective of the Mov'it team is to study neural network dysfunctions in pathology of movement and behaviour. The team’s approach is based on animal and human neuroimaging, neurophysiology, genetics and metabolomics.

The main objectives of the Mov’It team are:

  • Exploring motor networks in dystonia (AMEDYST study)
  • The study of diseases of superior motor functions (COGIT study) and the influence of sleep (MEMOdream)
  • A prospective study to determine a predictive model of Parkinson’s disease progression (ICEBERG)
  • The development of advanced therapies by non-invasive stimulation and by molecules targeting metabolic dysfunctions.

How to discern impulsivity from alteration of anticipation?
In everyday life, we all need to anticipate our actions. On the road, for example, we need to start or cross when the light turns green. While the light is red, our brain prepares to act as quickly as possible as soon as the color changes because we...

Artificial Intelligence-based MRI biomarker of Isolated REM Sleep Behavior Disorder and Parkinson's disease
Rahul Gaurav, a research Engineer in the MOV’IT team led by Pr. Stéphane Lehéricy and Pr. Marie Vidailhet, at the Paris Brain Institute, developed an artificial intelligence framework to investigate fully automatic neurodegeneration in the substantia...

A new non-invasive therapy for the treatment of Primary Orthostatic Tremor (POT): Trans-spinal electrical stimulation
Primary orthostatic tremor (POT) is a rare and poorly understood neurological disorder. It presents as a very rapid tremor (not visible to the naked eye) of the legs and trunk, causing a feeling of instability and fear of falling. The symptoms appear...

Tourette's syndrome: tics, a bad habit ?
Tics are the prime manifestations of Tourette's syndrome. How do they appear ? Why do they persist ? Yulia Worbe, from Mary Vidailhet's team, and her colleagues, have shown that patients with Tourette's syndrome develop more normal behaviours than...
